I've done enough bouncing around from fishery to fishery these last 5 years to learn the prime few months/weeks for all species here in the North Valley.

While during certain times, as many as 5 of my 7 guiding options might be going great, I'm realizing I can't afford the time to cover every option I offer simply when the fish are biting. So my future goal (for my independent trips) is to focus my scouting time on no more than 2 waters at at time.

By scouting and recommending trips this way, I cover at least one water during it's absolute most prime time, 80% of each year.

I've come to conclude that there's several variables to determine which local waters are more prime to fish, and when. These variables include; a combination of highest fish numbers, best fish sizes, amount of solitude/fishing space, and tactics used...

So this is the monthly equation I've come to for my independent trip recommendations.
