Flowing from Lake Oroville, to the Sacramento River, the Lower Feather is one of the most productive Valley Steelhead fisheries. Each year a good amount of typical football shaped Valley Steelhead enter the river, with the Fall run being the most sought after by fisherman.
The Feather sees a decent run of wild Steelhead along with the typical hatchery fish.
For Guided Trips, tactics will vary depending on the season. Nymphing is always productive. However, occasionally clients will have dry fly and swinging opportunities.
MY APPROACH ON THE FEATHER
As with any Steelhead river, unfortunately there are allot of factors that correlate to productive or unproductive days. If you call me interested in getting a trip here, I promise to give you an honest report, sometimes too honest for my well being if the fishing is slow or river is too crowded. High pressure is becoming more and more of a factor here. Living here in Oroville, I always know if the river is on or not. If I feel the action available isn’t worth the cost of a trip, I promise to always make that clear and lay out other options.
